Your Questions About Ladybug Stuff

Daniel asks…
How do I get rid of caterpillars that are eating my vegetables and flowers?!?!?
I think they are caterpillars….. They are about the size of an inch-worm, and they are blueish-grayish with a black stripe! Some are bright green like inch-worms. What are they?!?! They have eaten ALL of my basil, most of my broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage, some peppers, all bush beans, and even my flowers!!!!!!!!
Whenever I see them I pick them off and kill them. I asked someone at Lowes about it, and they gave me organic soapy stuff to put on the leaves, which has not helped at all. I think it might have even made the problem worse. If I got ladybugs would they keep them away? Please help!!!!!!!! Thank you!

Ladybugs answers:
Lynn C has the answer. Sevin is a very good general purpose insecticide. Just follow the label directions.
The insecticidal soaps are good for aphids but not much else. The lady bugs eat aphids so, if you using insecticidal soaps then you won’t have ladybugs either. If you use the insecticides judiciously (only when you begin to see a problem) , then you can still beneficial insects around most of the time. Used to excess they will eliminate the beneficial insects as well as earthworms in the soil. I use Sevin when I have a problem and I still see beneficials and I have earthworms in the soil of my raised beds.
Take to heart the poor advice that you got at Lowe’s. For good advice get to know the folks at your local nursery.

Sandra asks…
panther gecko food other than live bugs?
I know they are supposed to get live food. but i really dont want to put up with takeing care of annoying, noisy bugs. is their anything else i can feed them besides live bugs? maybe freeze dried crickets or something? will they accept stuff other than live bugs? and during the summer ill catch bugs from outside to feed my gecko, so he will get a few live bugs to hunt. just none during the winter. also, what kinds of bugs can i catch from outside for him to eat? we have grasshoppers, ladybugs, crickets, ants, earthworms (best availible food source i have, can they eat them?), snails, and thats pretty much all i can think of that i can catch from my yard. thanks in advance!
yeah but i dont feel like going to the store every day or two..

Ladybugs answers:
They usuAlly won’t eat the food if it is freeze dried. They are attracted by the movement of live bugs. Be careful getting bugs from outside since they can be contaminated with pesticides. Perhaps you shouldn’t have got a gecko if you didn’t want to feed it bugs. You could always do like I do and breed roaches. I also give mealworms for variety. They stay in the freezer for months

Ladybugs answers:
Honestly using something like Sexy Sabrina, Seductive Sabrina will put you on a level where you do not want to be if you really think about modelling with a stage name like that you’ll never advance but are classified.
Most of the top models use simply their names like Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, Giselle Bündchen (all names that not easy pronounced in English).
I think Sabrina does just fine.
