Your Questions About Ladybugs Movie

Carol asks…
What do you call a male ladybug?
there’s an interesting scene about this in the movie “bugs life”

Ladybugs answers:
A male ladybug is also a ladybug but don’t be confused with the term lady. Legends vary about how the Ladybug came to be named, but the most common (and enduring) is this: In Europe, during the Middle Ages, swarms of insects were destroying the crops. The farmers prayed to the Virgin Mary for help. Soon thereafter the Ladybugs came, devouring the plant-destroying pests and saving the crops! The farmers called these beautiful insects “The Beetles of Our Lady”, and – over time – they eventually became popularly known as “Lady Beetles”. The red wings were said to represent the Virgin’s cloak and the black spots were symbolic of both her joys and her sorrows.

Mary asks…
Help! I have an 80′s (I think) movie in my head and I can’t figure out what it was called?
My mother taped a movie from when I was a kid and I can’t figure out the title and it’s driving me crazy. It was about three (later four) robots that were in a wasteland society. There was a male companion robot with golden skin, blue hair and a blue tuxedo. He spoke in a quiet sort of effeminate voice and was super polite. Then there was the woman in a gold cocktail dress, gold curled hair that was swept over one shoulder in a very 80′s hairstyle. They later created a “child” robot that was very low tech, with lights and non human voice (clicks and whistles but very personable and interactive). I want to say Madeline Kahn was the female robot’s voice. They ran into a rotting comedian robot that was sitting on a suitcase, part of his “thing” was that his leg would come up to rest on his knee and he smoked a cigar incessantly. He sounded alot like Rodney Dangerfield Initially when they find him he is powered down and thier concern through the movie is that thier batteries are running low and they have somewhere they need to get. I know it’s not much to go on but it was a movie my mother loved and I’d like to get it for her if I could. It’s been running in my head for weeks, and all my attempts to find it have gone to killer robots or Rodney’s comedian efforts rather than a movie where he was a personification and not a role like Caddyshack or Ladybugs… does anyone have any clue on this obscure reference? Thank you if you can help!

Ladybugs answers:
Could it be “Heartbeeps” from 1981? I looked at a few of the movie’s posters/photos and they appear to match your description of the robots. You can see for yourself at this link; there’s a row of pictures you can click on:
